mmm....Rivoli.....
Very nice meal with GD at Rivoli. Hadn't been for a while. The outstanding item was an appetizer of thinly sliced, silky smoked duck breast on a little potato pancake with soft little pieces of leek and a mild hint of balsamic vinegar. I still think Rivoli is the best, although they seem to have lost the Italian tilt of the menu and are doing straight California-fancy food.
Hurry! Looks like it's off the menu as of March 15, at least for a while.

Yup, I concur. The smoked duck starter was by far the best thing on our table. If I had to do it over, I wouldn't have shared! (Although I must admit that David always lets me have more than my fair share) The gingerbread with poached pears and Meyer lemon creme was also nicely put together.

mmmmmmmm...Rivoli.
I still think it's my favorite restaurant anywhere.
